Job Opening: Coffee Roaster
Location: Kaarst, Near Düsseldorf
Pay: Up to €23/hour

About Us
We are Carles – an organic coffee roastery based in Kaarst. Since 2014, we’ve stood for honest craftsmanship, direct trade, and exceptional quality. Our coffees are 100% organic and sourced at prices that are at least 50% above FairTrade standards.
To keep growing and improving, we’re looking for a coffee roaster who’s passionate about the craft and curious about the story behind each bean – from arrival to roast to cup.
Your Responsibilities

Roast our organic coffees according to defined profiles

Inspect incoming green coffee deliveries for quality and documentation

Maintain and care for our roasting equipment

Develop and refine roast profiles

Conduct quality control and sensory evaluations (cuppings)

Support in green coffee sourcing and selection
Your Profile

Experience in roasting specialty coffee

Solid technical understanding of roasting machinery and workflows

Confident sensory skills (cupping experience a plus)

Independent, reliable, and detail-oriented work style

Interest in transparency, sustainability, and direct trade relationships

Team player with a hands-on attitude
